Latin scholars tour the Parthenon
Latin classes took advantage of the local architectural landmark for an engaging place-based learning opportunity.

On Saturday, September 24, twenty High School and Middle School Latin scholars visited the Parthenon. No, students didn't jet to Greece for the weekend, but after studying the Athenian Parthenon, they did enjoy a trip to Centennial Park to tour Nashville's full-scale replica of the iconic temple.
There they joined Latin students from other Nashville schools for exciting stories about Athena, Poseidon, Medusa, and other mythological figures. Following the tour, USN's multi-talented students competed in Certamen (a Latin quiz bowl), an impromptu art contest, and Ultimate Frisbee. And, they proved strong enough to move a 7.5-ton bronze door.
