Get festive for fall with our librarians

We invite students and families to turn pumpkins into book characters in celebration of our love for reading and the changing seasons.
By Emily Theobald, LS Librarian

It’s October and pumpkins are everywhere. This month Hassenfeld Library will host a Book Character Showcase, and we want your help. This is a fun activity to do as a family or for kids to get creative on their own.

Directions:
  1. Choose a favorite book character.
  2. Use an artificial pumpkin to start your project. You can use paper, glue, paint, pipe cleaners, fabric, or other craft items to turn the pumpkin into the book character of your choice.
  3. Bring your pumpkin character to school anytime in October. We will display them in the library and in the kindergarten atrium.
Questions? Contact LS Librarian Emily Theobald via email. We can't wait to see your favorite characters.
