Director Vince Durnan shared the following letter with USN parents on Wednesday, July 27. Families should acknowledge the school's Commitment to Community Health for each student through an electronic signature in Magnus. Faculty & staff should sign in PayCom.
Dear USN families,
You've probably seen a reference from me to a Commitment to Community Health as a way we can count on one another when school resumes. That document can be found within the secure Magnus site that maintains student records for access by our Health Room staff. Log in to usn.org with your USN parent account, and find the Magnus Health box on the Resources page. Parents with multiple children should be prepared to do this multiple times such that each child is documented, no matter the grade division.
You'll find a request for an e-signature as a statement of support for some essential principles, and I'd encourage a kitchen-table type conversation, point by point, with your family. Maybe print it out and tape it to the refrigerator as a reminder. We can and must each do our part if we expect conditions out there to improve— that much is increasingly clear.
If reading through that compact you encounter questions, or if for some reason in good conscience you find yourself at odds with what we're asking of you, please come straight to me. It's time to start imagining being at school, thinking about a 14-day runway of preparation, and we need you there in support.
University of Virginia selected Margot Ross '24 to be a Jefferson Scholar. The highly selective scholarship includes the full cost of attending UVA for four years of study as well as numerous enrichment opportunities. It has been 16 years since a University School of Nashville senior last became a Jefferson Scholar.
