Lower School parents should click here to sign up to have a High School buddy work with their children. High School students should click here to sign up to be a buddy to help with homework, read, or serve as a mentor.

Ainsely McMillian ’22, Dabney Moore ’20, Morgan Lewis ’20, and Victoria Christianson Galina ’20 are working with Head of Lower School Amy Woodson to start a buddy program between High School and Lower School students. The idea is to connect a student in grades 9-12 with a K-4 student and have the former be of assistance to the younger peer either synchronously, through Zoom, or asynchronously, with pre-filmed videos. This might include helping with homework, being a buddy/mentor, or any similar way that is helpful to your family specifically. We are trying to match buddies up with Lower School families that are in the most need right now when it comes to helping with homework and keeping their child company during this time.

Please follow the directions below. If you have any questions or concerns, please email one of the High School organizers: Ainsely McMillian ’22, Dabney Moore ’20, Morgan Lewis ’20, or Victoria Christianson Galina ’20. You may also reach out to High School Administrative Assistant Debbie Fulcher or Head of Lower School Amy Woodson.

For Lower School parents
Right now we are looking to find out how many families would be interested in having a High School buddy be of any assistance. Click here to sign up to have a High School buddy work with your family. There are also some important questions about any preferences you have in order to properly pair your child with a High Schooler.

For High School students
Each individual family would have different needs when it comes to your participation as a buddy, but expect to be of assistance when it comes to schoolwork like math or reading. You will also be responsible for communicating with your assigned family about the best time to meet, methods, and materials needed. We will be giving guidelines and assistance in order to communicate with your assigned family. Expect to be available around two times a week to meet with your buddy.
