Hassenfeld, public libraries offer a wealth of online resources

With everyone leaving campus for Spring Break, this is a good time to remind our community members about all the great resources for continued learning that are available through the Hassenfeld Library website and your local public library.

If you haven’t visited the Hassenfeld Library’s website lately, you might be surprised at everything you can find there. Our main LibGuide has tabs with resources for students and parents in all three divisions, and one for faculty/staff too. These pages include content like curated lists of useful databases and other online tools and resources for research, as well as booklists for independent reading and spotlighted titles from our collection.

There’s also a page on the main LibGuide that lists all of our databases, which offer online access to a huge variety of materials. You’ll need to enter a password to access most of these from home. A link to the list of database passwords appears on this and every LibGuide.

In addition to the main LibGuide, we offer more than 30 LibGuides that are focused on one subject, class, or project, with materials and resources curated by your teachers and librarians. Look through the Alphabetical List of LibGuides to find the one you need.

Remember that your local public library is also a wonderful resource. Residents of Davidson County can use the Nashville Public Library, while other counties have their own public library systems. Check Tennessee’s Public Library Directory to find out which libraries are closest to you, and sign up for a library card if you don’t have one. This will give you free access to everything your library has to offer: lots of great books, of course, but also online materials like databases, e-book and e-audiobook collections, and even movies and music.

Whether you’re at school, at home, or anywhere else, the library has something for you.
