Tigers rally with a win over Ooltewah

After a tough loss on Friday night to the host team, the Tigers were ready to make small changes hoping for a big difference in play.  The play was back and forth, both with successes and mistakes, showing that grit and determination would be what would decide the game.   Lia Payne was strong on the draw, pulling in ten draw controls on the game, and assisting in three others.  Her speed couldn’t be contained as she scored most of her seven goals in fast break fashion.  Parker O’Hara’s command on offense kept us organized and threatening to the Ooltewah defense.  Parker finished with two goals in the game, but her ability to help us transition to attack and maintain possession were her biggest successes on the day.

Junior Lydia West was strong in goal, finishing the game with nine saves to twelve goals against.  In the waning minutes of the game, with the win not yet secured, Lydia came up with a huge save on a free position, giving the Tigers the ball with only a few minutes left to burn on the clock.

Freshmen newcomer, Eva Wuerth continues to impress with two goals on the day, including one with less than two seconds to play in the first half.

The Tigers finished the trip with their first varsity win of the season, 15-12 over Ooltewah.  We’re back in action on the road this week at JPII on Tuesday and Ensworth on Thursday.
