Tigers drop first game of the weekend trip in Chattanooga
The Tigers were excited to be on the road again for a game under the lights at Baylor School in Chattanooga. Baylor was strong on the draw to begin the game, forcing the Tigers to play a lot of defense. Even with balls knocked down and take-aways, the Tigers struggled to transition to the attack, giving Baylor more than their share of scoring chances. We quickly dug ourselves into a hole and were down 6-2 at the half-time break. Our draw controls proved to be the secret to our attacking success—we had six draw controls and six goals. Unfortunately, we couldn’t keep Baylor’s hot shot shooters out of our 8m, and they outscored us 14-6 on the night.
Highlights of the game included a fast break by Lia Payne who was able to find first-time player, Eva Wuerth down field who then made a quick-stick pass to Parker O’Hara who finished the goal. It was text book transition and great to see younger players getting involved in big plays. Lia Payne led our scorers with three goals. Parker O’Hara, Annie Jacobs, and Lucy King each scored one goal on the night.
The Tigers look forward to the matchup with Ooltewah tomorrow on Baylor’s Hunt Field.
