School administrators have spent much time discussing our indoor, saltwater swimming pool, and I want to share some of the outcomes of those conversations with parents and students.
Two certified lifeguard faculty members are in the pool each day with our Lower School classes. This supervision increase has provided a higher level of safety and additional protocols for us to follow in caring for our students.
USN signed a contract with Greater Nashville Pool Management Group in mid-January. The company began handling pool equipment, maintenance, and chemical readings in February. Since then, there has been only one temporary pool closure due to a light fixture falling into the pool. On that occasion, the company responded quickly and had the pool back up and running before the end of the school day.
While this new partnership has provided stability, we still want families to be mindful that air quality, water temperature, and chemical balances can change with seasons. The commitment of our faculty & staff and our partnership with Greater Nashville Pool Management Group are to monitor pool levels continually and provide a safe and enjoyable experience for all pool users.
If there are concerns, we certainly want to hear and will respond promptly. Open communication helps with making sure the waters can remain open. I am only an email away.
University of Virginia selected Margot Ross '24 to be a Jefferson Scholar. The highly selective scholarship includes the full cost of attending UVA for four years of study as well as numerous enrichment opportunities. It has been 16 years since a University School of Nashville senior last became a Jefferson Scholar.
