Track Fares Well in Chattanooga
Great weather and even better competition made for an outstanding day in Chattanooga on Saturday. Our athletes were put to the test against 21 other schools from the mid State area and our team placed 6th boys and 9th girls overall.
Podium finishers included - In the boys 400m Josh Scretchen 1st and Jonathan Ghertner 2nd swept the race, despite competing in separate heats. In the boys 800m Neil Narayanan 2nd and Pelham Bergesen 5th posted personal best efforts (as did Josh and Jonathan). Our girls relays placed 2nd 4x100 and 3rd 4x200m (Chloe Bruce, Izzy Lutes, Brooke Burgess, Morayo Kassim) AND quietly working his way around the track over 8 laps Nick Sieders took control of the 3200m run and ran away from the field after a mile.
TOW - Tiger's of the Week - Josh Scretchen (400m, 4x4 anchor), Ryane Swope (PR's 100m, 200m) and our girls sprint relay crew (Chloe Bruce, Izzy Lutes, Morayo Kassim, Brooke Burgess) earned Tigers of the Week by virtue of their great competitive effrots.
Honorable mention - For many this was their first time in an elite meet situation and these athletes performed with grit and grace - Jordan Turner 100/200m PRs; girls 4x800 5th (Latham Hall, Mia Owen, Abby Schoenecker, Eden Horton), HJ Ashton Wise 4'2", Josie Aronoff 1600m and James Page 100m, 200m.
