Strong Start to the Season
The Tigers took the field today in their first game of the season. They faced Poplar Grove Middle School. With the first game excitement at a high level, the Tigers were ready for a some competitive competition. The Tigers had an amazing first inning, leaving PG scoreless and scoring three runs of their own. The Tigers had some strong defensive plays during the game made by Alice Frein (2 throw outs at first), Ngina McGruder (2 strike outs, 2 throwouts at first and home, and a caught pop fly), Lily Mozzi (caught bunt) that minimized the potential amount of runs by PG. Although the Tigers had a strong first inning both defensively and offensively, they were unable to keep that lead for the remainder of the game. Offensively, contact was made, but the Tigers struggled to make it around the bases to add to their first inning score. Defensively, there were a few mental errors that opened the door for PG to add to their score and take the lead. The final score of the game was 6-3, Poplar Grove. Although the night didn't end in a win, the Tigers made a statement in their first game and showed such high potential for a strong season!
