Middle School Athletics Update

A recap of recent games and other athletics news.
Athletics News… Sign-ups for ultimate frisbee and soccer are happening this week in sixth, seventh, and eighth grades. Announcements will be made in Town Meeting and sign-up sheets will be available in math classrooms.

Cross Country
welcomed new head coach and USN alumnus Skyler Moots ’07, who will be assisted by Coach Ahmed and Coach Rives. The Tigers open the season on Thursday, Aug. 24 at Vaughn’s Gap in Percy Warner Park at 4:15 p.m. USN then hosts the Tiger XC Invitational at the River Campus with races starting at 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 26.

Golf…

Football…
The Tigers suiting up with Harding Academy have a week of practices after a tough loss last week against Nashville Christian, 20-42. Jordan Turner '22 returned the kickoff 80 yards for a score as the clock ticked to :00 at the half. In the second half, NCS put up two more scores and Harding had one final touchdown run from Turner who gave a phenomenal effort, breaking four tackles on his way to the end zone. Additional USN players include Noah Kim '23 and Caleb Spears '23. The team is back in action at home Thursday, Aug. 31 against Catholic West.

Tennis… The Tiger tennis squad – nearly 60 student-athletes strong – opens play on Thursday, Aug. 24 at the River Campus against Lipscomb Academy.

Volleyball… All three teams hosted Nashville Christian School on Monday, Aug. 21 with outstanding results, despite missing a few players. The C Team shut out NCS in its debut, 2-0. Congrats to A-Teamer Kendall Burgess '22, B-Teamer Ivy Cochran '23, and C-Teamer Cleo Gauthier '24 for earning Tiger of the Week honors.
