By Emily Holt, Middle School & High School Art Teacher

Painter Melodie Provenzano is USN’s first visiting artist of the school year in the Tibbott Gallery, where the “Seeing Oneself in Others II” art collection is on exhibit from Tuesday, September 5 through Friday, September 29. The USN community is invited to an opening reception from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Friday, September 8 in the Tibbott Gallery with snacks provided.

New paintings of sculptures made by USN student artists are featured with Provenzano’s work. The pieces on display were previously exhibited in “Seeing Oneself in Others” at Nancy Margolis Gallery in New York City in 2020. The premise of the show was Provenzano’s interpretations of sculptures made by contemporary artists. She works primarily with acrylics and paints still-life compositions from direct observation. She lives in the countryside near Joelton, Tennessee.
