The University School of Nashville choral and vocal music program provides a nurturing atmosphere where students may find their true voices while expanding and improving their musicianship. Music literacy, knowledge of vocal styles and genres, and an awareness and appreciation of our musical heritage are fostered, as well as the team experience of functioning within an ensemble.
USN choristers are accepted by audition each year to participate in Tennessee Mid-State and All-State Honor Choirs. They perform a variety of programs in the Nashville area in such venues as the Vanderbilt Children's Hospital and Alive Hospice. Performance trips in recent years have included Disney World, Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center, the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, festival cruises to the Bahamas and Mexico, and others. Each singer is encouraged to take risks and support others who do so, with the ultimate goal of producing well-rounded, confident musicians.
