Seniors, by now you've heard me say that school is community. That's absolutely true. I hate that we've had to conclude your time here at USN in this way — uncertainty, questions, and sure, disappointment. Yet, you've given me a reason to be hopeful, as each of you has remained connected to one another. And you will remain connected. The relationships you've forged in your time at USN, both with your classmates and your teachers, are powerful and they are enduring. Allow those relationships to sustain and nurture you as you move forward into all things college.
Congratulations on your leadership and accomplishments. Your class has personified our school's mission — you all have shown our campus and our community what it truly means to value & inspire integrity, creative expression, a love of learning, and the pursuit of excellence.

Sunday, May 24 at 6 p.m. On the date seniors were originally scheduled to turn their tassels, faculty & staff met them with cheers, balloons, confetti, pompoms, airhorns, posters, and giant senior portraits during a festive yet socially distant parade. Seniors entered the River Campus in decorated cars with their families, received their gowns & mortarboards as well as school memorabilia, and exited as the youngest PDS/USN alumni.
Commencement Friday, June 26 a 10 a.m. Graduates will be seated with their families and apart from others on USN’s backfield for a celebration that includes addresses by Distinguished Alumna Allison Fundis ’99, Director Vince Durnan, and Head of High School Quinton Walker. Details are forthcoming regarding rehearsal, seating, and parking. This date is dependent upon guidance from the Metro Nashville Public Health Department. Should Nashville’s plan to reopen the city not yet allow large gatherings, Commencement will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 24. This event will be livestreamed at Facebook.com/USN.PDS for guests unable to attend in person.
Vanderbilt Assistant Professor Patrick J. Schuermann spoke to students inducted into the Cum Laude Society, which recognizes members of the graduating class who have distinguished themselves for academic excellence.
