Summer Language Institute Eighth Annual Summer Language Institute at USN
Beginning Language Classes for Teens & Adults (ages 16 and up)
Experience learning Spanish in a fun, low-stress environment. These engaging, interactive classes will be taught using Total Physical Response (TPR) and Teaching Proficiency through Reading and Storytelling (TPRS), two methods that mimic the way you learned your first language, through games, songs, and movement. Take classes to boost academic performance or to prepare for travel abroad — or just for the thrill of learning to hear, speak, write, think and play in a different language. Adult students of TPR and TPR Storytelling in Spanish have averaged scores on the National Spanish Test equal to 45 hours or 1 college semester.
Location: University School of Nashville Costs: $350 Dates: Spanish I July 19-23 Spanish II July 19-23

Tennessee Teens Rock & Roll Camp (TNTRC) Tennessee Teens Rock & Roll Camp (TNTRC) is a summer day camp for girls and boys ages 10-17. TNTRC's mission is to support a culture of positive self-esteem and collaboration among young people while building community through music. TNTRC recognizes the potential of every young person to be a strong, talented, creative and empowered individual while providing a safe space where everyone rocks.
Aside from instrument instruction, TNTRC offers many other ways to rock out. Exclusive performances by local, regional, and national bands and artists offer campers an opportunity to experience a diverse range of musical styles. In camp workshops, campers will learn skills like songwriting, recording, and screenprinting, in addition to life skills like teamwork as they join forces to complete projects over the course of the week. The most exciting part of camp week is the opportunity for campers to form their own band and collaborate on a song to perform at a showcase at the end of the week.
