Retired competitive swimmer Shannon Vreeland visited USN to speak with swimmers.
Olympic gold medalist Shannon Vreeland spoke to the Middle and High School swim teams Wednesday, Nov. 16.
She shared with them the story of how she earned a spot on the 2012 U.S. Olympic team and won a gold medal in the 4×200-meter freestyle relay with Missy Franklin, Dana Vollmer, and Allison Schmitt at the 2012 London Summer Olympics. Students also watched a clip of the race and passed around her medal.
Vreeland visited USN at the invitation of her former swim coach, Middle School Latin teacher, Rich Rosenthal. She has retired from competitive swimming and is a student at Vanderbilt Law School.
University of Virginia selected Margot Ross '24 to be a Jefferson Scholar. The highly selective scholarship includes the full cost of attending UVA for four years of study as well as numerous enrichment opportunities. It has been 16 years since a University School of Nashville senior last became a Jefferson Scholar.
