Former DCA standout and Belmont University All-American Adam Sonn will take over as the boys’ varsity head coach at University School of Nashville. Adam finished his playing career overseas after starting in the ABA and NBA Development League here in the states. Last year he served as USN’s high school assistant basketball coach.
Adam will acquire a team that fell short of state play after two disappointing losses in the Class A East/Middle region tournament. Adam became familiar with USN during his professional career by giving individual lessons to some of USN’s younger players. Adam will also continue as USN’s fitness center director.
Vanderbilt standout Dee Davis will replace Dawn Rogers as the high school girls’ basketball coach. Dee, a first team All-SEC point guard graduating in 2007, holds Vanderbilt’s all-time assists record. She was drafted 14th overall in the WNBA but played oversees in Bosnia last year.
Locally Dee has worked with AAU programs and given individual lessons. She will take over a team that made it to the sub-state round of the TSSAA Division II Class A state tournament. The Tigers graduated Miss Basketball Finalist Kristi Nye but will return all remaining players from last year’s team. Dee will also be teaching P.E. classes at USN and aiding in the Admissions Office.
