On Friday, May 2, a group of 24 upper level Spanish students had lunch at Nola’s restaurant to try out a variety of South American dishes. Taking a trip outside the classroom for this cultural and culinary experience was a tasty way to introduce students to South American culture.
Uruguayan owner Alexia Cabrera gave the students a chance to encounter her culture more closely by speaking to them in Spanish and serving them an authentic meal. The students loved the empanadas (stuffed pastry with chicken or spinach and cheese), the delicious array of meats grilled South American style, the variety of sausages (including morcilla, or blood sausage), ñoquis (traditional potato dumplings with sauce) and other local treats. ¡Buen provecho!
