Week 5: July 7 – 11
Creative Movement
For rising grades 4 and 5
This fun and light-hearted camp explores what makes movement interesting. No dance experience is necessary. It’s not like a traditional dance class—we focus on the universal experience of physicality and self-expression through body movement (rather than a specific discipline). Through varied exercises, campers develop skills in applying some of the basic components of movement (such as space usage, shape, size, level, direction, pathway, focus, speed, pacing, rhythm, balance, themes and concepts). We explore different genres of music and styles of movement. We employ the full spectrum of movement quality is supported, strong movement to soft, making it an enjoyable experience for both girls and boys. Students can collaborate and perform informally.

More and more pre-teens and teens are taking an interest in learning how to cook, and why not? Cooking is an enriching experience. It applies critical reading, science, and mathematical skills to purposeful activity that offers tangible results and almost immediate gratification. By learning the differences between terms such as mince, whisk, sauté, proof, and fold through hands-on experience, students will have the confidence to tackle any recipe they might encounter. In this camp, students will learn essential culinary techniques while making great-tasting foods that they get to sample at the end of each day’s lesson. The final day of the session will end with a shared buffet for students and invited guests. Students will receive all recipes in a bound cookbook along with a Kleiner’s Kitchen cooking keepsake
