Summer Tiger Camp
For rising grades K-2
Every day brings a new kind of fun for kids in Summer Tiger Camp. Children will enjoy a week of arts and crafts, free play, drama and music, and movement.

Boys’ Lacrosse Camp
For rising grades K-4
Students will have fun learning lacrosse fundamentals in this camp, led by USN’s varsity lacrosse coach. Campers will learn the basics of the game: catching, throwing, ground balls, shooting, defense, and facing off. Lacrosse is a fast-paced game with similarities to hockey and basketball. Come out and learn about the fastest growing sport in America. Each camper will receive a mini-lacrosse stick, ball, and camp jersey as part of the camp fee.

Beginning Spanish
For rising grades 1-6, grouped in grades 1-2, 3-4, and 5-6
Teachers use fun and effective TPR (Total Physical Response) and TPRS (Teaching Proficiency through Reading and Storytelling) methods of language instruction. Fun and Games in Spanish
For rising grades 1-6
For more learning and practice of Spanish, send your child with a brown-bag lunch, and the other half of the day he/she can enjoy “Fun & Games in Spanish.” In this program, children will improve their Spanish by interacting with bilingual adults and children. They’ll practice Spanish with hands-on activities like playing board games, reading books, playing sports, singing, and art. Spanish teachers will facilitate conversation in “Fun & Games” to complement TPR/TPRS Spanish classes during the other half of the day.

Beginning French

Deborah Tucker teaches French to grades 1-5 at the Chattanooga School for the Arts & Sciences. She has taught French to children, teens, and college students in Georgia and Tennessee and has taught English in France.

Josephine Huang teaches Chinese in Nashville to students ages 18 months to 18 years at USN, USN AfterSchool, Harpeth Hall, Nashville Christian School, Nashville Chinese School, and Families with Children from China (FCC). A specialist in Early Childhood Education, she earned a B.A. in English from the National Cheng-Chi University in Taipei, a Master of Science, and a Master of Education.

Tennis Camp

Camp will focus on fun, friendship, and fundamentals.
Each camper needs just a racquet, water bottle, tennis shoes, and appropriate clothing.

Someone's in the Kitchen—Baking
For rising grades 2-4
Nothing smells better then a slice of fresh baked bread, warm sugar cookies, apple crisp or yummy chocolate brownies right out of the oven. Learn how to make these and other home-baked treats while we explore the science and math of baking. All camp graduates will receive their own super stirring spoon.

Creating Art with Yarn: Learn to Needlepoint
For rising grades 2-6
A fifth grade teacher experienced in needlepoint art will help you learn stitches and patterns to create a picture of your own. It’s easy and fun! No experience is necessary. Know how to needlepoint already? Come to learn new stitches or just to work on a picture with the group. We will provide the materials, and you will have a finished needlepoint piece at the end of the week.

Summer Science Camp
For rising grades 5-7
USN Summer Science Camp is an inquiry-based, hands-on laboratory investigation of chemistry, physics, geology, and biology. It’s not sitting around listening to someone talk. Students will build the model of an eye, make alloys, investigate color theory, inquire into water life using microscopes, investigate how boomerangs fly, teach hamsters how to run a maze, build cyberspace robots, create volcanic lava, and more exciting science stuff. Learning proper use of lab equipment, summer science campers will safely apply the principles of science inquiry, utilize mathematics of science, investigate technology and engineering, and follow proper science record keeping while enjoying the dynamics of being young scientists.

Lego Robotics

Robocode

Robocode combines the basics of Java programming and artificial intelligence into an addictive tank fighting simulation. Students will learn to program virtual robots, coordinating moving, scanning, and firing before pitting their robot against the bots of other students in a virtual arena.
