2007 Summer Opportunities for HS Students (Click for PDF List)

Click on the title above for a spreadsheet listing summer programs about which we have information.  In some cases, these are programs in which USN students have participated.

Students can also check the 2nd floor bulletin board at school for summer opportunities and a list of summer jobs. Ms. Schmid has two reference books, Peterson's Guide to Summer Opportunities and The Princeton Review's The 500 Best Ways for Teens to Spend the Summer, which are available to check out overnight.

For students who want to gain some work experience or earn some money, we have a registry for summer internships and employment. By filling out a slip and returning it to Mrs. Schmid's office, students can make their interests, skills, and availability known. We hope that parents will contact USN when filling needs in their workplace and at home during the summer months. If you have further questions, please call Anita Schmid at 321-8005 or email aschmid@usn.org

C# Programming Camp

C# Programming

The C# programming camp, intended for students who have taken or intend to take high school programming courses, covers everything from the most basic programming to the most advanced techniques in the field. The techniques taught range from the simplest input-output for beginners to the most advanced windows GUI programming (see syllabus for complete list of assignments). The course will concentrate on the creation of games and small programs to apply programming syntax and techniques taught in class. Students will be given their assignments after a quick concept overview and several TA’s will be available to provide one-on-one assistance. The camp combines a full day of programming lessons with breaks for “mass games” such as team handball and capture the flag (needed after programming for an hour).

Dates: June 11-15

Cost: $200 dollars

Time: 9:00 - 4:00

For parents' convenience, students can be dropped off up to an hour early in the morning and/or picked up as much as an hour later in the afternoon at no extra charge.

Please provide a sack lunch or money to buy lunch in a nearby restaurant.
